“There is consensus (general agreement) that someone from the honored Jashari family should become President,” said today the Deputy Prime Minister and chief diplomat, Glauk Konjufca.
However, Murat Jashari from this emblematic family not only rejected a possible proposal, but also sent a message that the name of this family should not be misused.
He told Vox Kosova the following:
“At certain moments I will give a statement. More than anything as Murat, it is the name of the Jashari Family. It is a heavy burden on the shoulders, and I have neither the moral nor professional right to use the name of the Jashari family for public positions. I have a duty… that is why I have not come out to speak. My name, regarding this issue, comes up continuously; it is mentioned every time the presidency is questioned. I have clarified that I have no political ambitions. The Jashari family belongs to all Albanians… between being in public office and the profession I have, I choose the one I have… God forbid a civil war or a major national danger that threatens the core of our nation—then who am I not to sacrifice for this country. But not to misuse the name of the Jashari family.”
