The Chairman of the Trade Union of the Korporata Energjetike e Kosovës (KEK), Xhelal Jashari, has stated that Migjen Sadiku, the 55-year-old KEK employee who died today at his workplace, worked in the physical security department.
They initially received information that an incident had occurred at Thermal Power Plant B, and later learned that it was a tragic incident in which they lost their colleague.
“Several hours ago, we received information that an incident had occurred at the Kosovo Energy Corporation, at Termocentrali Kosova B, where unfortunately, according to the police authorities and medical teams, it was confirmed that worker Migjen Sadiku passed away at his workplace.
“The deceased worked in the physical security department, where they are equipped with all necessary equipment. However, how the incident occurred—we were not able to be near the scene, because the police were monitoring the entire situation after the case. Therefore, as a union, we express our most sincere condolences to the family of the deceased, to his colleagues, and to all his collaborators who worked with him, especially the physical security department, who today share the collective grief with the family of the deceased, for whom today, unfortunately, was his last day, while he was on duty,” he said.
Earlier, KEK announced through a statement that one of its workers had died after sustaining injuries in an incident involving a transport vehicle (truck).
“The Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK J.S.C.) announces with deep regret that today, at the ‘Kosova B’ Thermal Power Plant, a serious incident occurred involving a transport vehicle (truck) and an employee. As a result of this incident, a 55-year-old male Kosovar employee sustained severe injuries. KEK officials, the Kosovo Police, and medical teams immediately arrived at the scene and confirmed that the victim had passed away. KEK J.S.C. expresses its most sincere condolences to the family of the deceased, as well as to his colleagues and all his collaborators. The relevant authorities are handling the case in accordance with legal procedures. With deep sorrow, KOSOVO ENERGY CORPORATION,” the KEK statement said.
