Political commentator Visar Ymeri has said that individuals belonging to the Jashari family from Prekaz have the right to enter politics, but as politicians they “should be judged based on their performance” and not on the values of the family.
Speaking on the show VV Show, Ymeri said that members of the Jashari family also have the right to engage in politics, business, and other fields.
“The Jashari family as a value and the individual members of the Jashari family, however, are not one and the same thing. For example, Bekim Jashari, Murat Jashari, Bashkim Jashari and others who come afterward have the right to engage in politics, they have the right to engage in business, they have the right to pursue education,” he said.
However, the former member of the Assembly of Kosovo stated that any individual from the Jashari family who enters politics should be treated according to the same standard by which Ramush Haradinaj has been evaluated.
“The values symbolized by the Jashari family are values that we will always uphold, and I hope we will continue to uphold them as guiding values of the need for sacrifice. But individuals who enter politics will be evaluated based on their political performance. Mr. Ramush Haradinaj’s war also holds great value for the liberation of Kosovo, but we have looked at Haradinaj as a politician. We have said that he had a corrupt government,” Ymeri said.
