The Mayor of the Municipality of Drenas, Ramiz Lladrovci, has reacted after a video was published on social media showing employees of the Regional Waste Management Company transporting garbage using tractors.
In his response, Lladrovci stated that the Regional Waste Management Company is not managed by the Municipality.
“The Regional Waste Management Company is a regional public enterprise, which is not managed by the Municipality, but operates based on the legislation in force and its statute, under the responsibility of the competent bodies at the central level,” the statement reads.
He described the action shown in the video as irresponsible and dangerous.
Lladrovci emphasized that no work vehicle should be allowed to participate in traffic without being technically roadworthy.
“We clearly emphasize that no work vehicle is allowed to participate in public traffic unless it is technically sound and safe, regardless of the nature of the work or the institution that uses it.”
In conclusion, Lladrovci called on the responsible institutions to take the necessary actions.
“If the employees in question were under the direct responsibility of the Municipality, they would have been immediately referred to a disciplinary commission and sanctioned in accordance with the law, without any tolerance. The responsible institutions are expected to take the necessary actions to investigate the case and impose disciplinary and legal measures, so that such cases are not repeated. Public safety and the lives of citizens are above any operational or individual justification,” he wrote.
