Although the Municipality of South Mitrovica is led by the Vetëvendosje Movement, a member of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) has been appointed to head one of its public enterprises. Vesa Broja from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) in Mitrovica has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the regional public waste management company KRM “Uniteti”.
According to local media reports in Mitrovica, Broja was among the candidates who applied for the position and received the highest score. The evaluation was carried out by the members of the Board of Directors of KRM “Uniteti”, Insajderi reports.
Since the company is regional, its board members also include representatives from the Municipality of Vushtrri and the Municipality of Skenderaj, both led by the PDK. The shareholders of KRM “Uniteti” are the Municipality of Mitrovica with 62%, the Municipality of Vushtrri with 22%, and the Municipality of Skenderaj with 10%.
Regarding this issue, Faton Peci had pledged that he would not allow the municipality led by Sami Lushtaku to determine the Chief Executive of KRM “Uniteti”.
“We will not allow the Municipality of Skenderaj, with only 10% of the shares in the regional waste management enterprise KRM ‘Uniteti’, to choose who will be the Chief Executive Officer responsible for Mitrovica,” Peci had declared a month ago.
He had also stated that he would not allow the Municipality of Vushtrri, which is also a shareholder in the enterprise, to make such decisions.
“It cannot happen and it is shameful for the Municipality of Vushtrri — which has withdrawn from this enterprise and created its own new municipal company — to decide who will be the Chief Executive Officer of Mitrovica’s municipal enterprise. They did not trust it with the service, yet they want to choose our Chief Executive.”
Peci had pledged to take legal action regarding the matter, although so far he has not reacted at all.
