Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned the Iranian attacks on its capital, Riyadh, and the eastern region, stating that they were successfully repelled.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Sunday that the attacks occurred “despite the Iranian authorities being aware that the Kingdom had emphasized it would not allow its airspace or territory to be used to target Iran.”
A Saudi diplomat told Associated Press that a message had been sent to the Iranian leadership in an effort to avoid potential missile and drone attacks against Saudi Arabia.
According to the diplomat, the same message was also conveyed to the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen. The diplomat spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
