President Donald Trump encouraged
Iranians to take control of their government once U.S. military operations are completed.
“When we are finished, take control of your government. It will be yours for the taking. This will probably be your only chance for generations,” the president said in a video message.
He said he was taking action that his presidential predecessors had not undertaken.
“For many years, you have asked for America’s help, but you never received it. No president was willing to do what I am willing to do tonight. Now you have a president who is giving you what you want, so let’s see how you respond,” he said.
“America is supporting you with great strength and overwhelming force. Now is the time to take control of your destiny and unlock the prosperous and glorious future that lies close before you,” he continued.
“This is the moment for action,” the president concluded. “Do not let it slip away.”
